I am Australian (by choice, not birth). Married, have two(adult) daughters. I have one granddaughter, born Sept 2010, and a grandson, born Aug 2011. Now I know a little of what this stage of life holds for me. I love kids, travel, reading, woodwork, art, outdoors, fishing, internet, and the list goes on.
I am a born again believer in Jesus Christ, (of which I am not the least bit ashamed). I am reluctant to call myself "christian", because of the broad interpretation that has, esp here on Hubpages. I strongly believe that without Jesus Christ, there is NO christianity, only a shalow, religious imitation.
I have a teaching/exhortation gift, which I like using to build and encourage others with. I am still learning, growing and (hopefully) maturing in faith , knowledge, character and love.
The (new) profile image is actually my wife, holding my granddaughter's hand. Some things money just can't buy.
My early childhood was a-religious, until we arrived in Australia. It turns out we were Catholic, and I did the usual catechism, religious class one hour per week at school. Never really got into it. I actually got myself into the worst trouble in school EVER, over religious education, the details of which I won't go into.
However, life presented way too many questions that required answers. I tried to swallow the evolution thing, but it only created more questions, with even fewer answers. Of course, science has no business trying to answer philosophical/spiritual questions. I was no closer to satisfactory answers than I was with the religious education I was "learning".
My search led me to look at many things, again, with out satisfactory results. Finally, I came to Christ when I was in my early 20's. I still didn't know all the answers, but I knew Him Who DID. I have written a hub about that, for those who want to know more, about my journey of faith.
I absolutely reject Evolution as THE, or even A viable possibility of explaining our origins, or our destiny. It may interest you to know that the word EVOLUTION has a wide range of meanings. I have a summary HERE. So, I do agree there is some evolution going on, but on a micro-scale. So much on that!
I am not a self professed writer. I don't type fast, nor do I enjoy it as a truly gifted person may. However, I love to write my thoughts down, and I hope to teach and encourage others. I am happy to discuss most anything "religious", or spiritual, and try to stay as true to the Bible as humanly possible, based on my own understanding and experience.
Thanks for reading this far. Blessings to you.
DJ.
PS, sometimes people wonder about the DJ. bit, where it comes from. I was called that many years ago, based on my surname (last name, for my US readers) which I have long ago changed to make it more "English". That in itself is another story. :-)
